KUCHING – Fiesta Satok 7.0 2026 brought residents of the N8 Satok Friendly Neighbourhood community together for two days of sports, recreation and creative activities at the Satok Community Sports Complex on 17 and 18 October.

The event featured a range of activities designed to encourage community participation, promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen relationships among residents. Its programme combined sporting competitions, family-oriented entertainment and creative showcases under the theme “Inside-Out”.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) director Ramzi bin Abdillah, reflecting the local authority’s involvement in initiatives aimed at strengthening neighbourhood ties and encouraging residents to participate in community development.

The fiesta provided a platform for people of different ages and interests to take part in activities beyond their usual neighbourhood routines. Organisers included both physical competitions and creative events to encourage broader participation and highlight the range of interests within the Satok community.

Sports and recreational activities included table tennis, pickleball, aerobics and the Fiesta Satok Fun Walk. These activities offered opportunities for participants to engage in physical exercise while interacting with fellow residents in a community setting.

The programme also featured Mobile Legends, introducing an electronic gaming competition alongside more traditional sporting activities. The inclusion of different formats catered to varied interests and created opportunities for participation across different age groups.

Creative and cultural activities formed another part of the two-day event. A patchwork activity, karaoke sessions and a second-hand fashion show provided platforms for participants to display their creativity and skills.

Food and family entertainment were also included in the programme, with a pansuh chicken cooking competition, a children’s colouring competition and a slingshot competition among the scheduled activities. The combination of these events gave the fiesta a broad community focus, extending beyond sports to include cooking, artistic expression and recreational challenges.

The theme “Inside-Out” placed emphasis on community talent and creativity while supporting the wider objective of strengthening social connections. Through its varied programme, Fiesta Satok 7.0 sought to encourage residents to contribute their abilities and participate in shared neighbourhood activities.

The event also highlighted the role of Kejiranan Mesra (KJM), or Friendly Neighbourhood, as a community engagement platform and a strategic partner of DBKU. Such neighbourhood initiatives provide opportunities for residents to work together, participate in local programmes and build relationships within their communities.

Community-based activities can help create regular opportunities for interaction among residents who might otherwise have limited contact outside their daily routines. Sports, recreational events and creative competitions can also encourage cooperation, shared responsibility and participation in local initiatives.

For local authorities, neighbourhood programmes offer a means of engaging residents in community development while supporting efforts to maintain active and harmonious residential areas. The involvement of community committees, volunteers and participants is an important part of organising events that bring residents together.

DBKU expressed appreciation to the organisers, KJM committee members, participants, volunteers and other parties involved in delivering the programme. Their contributions supported the organisation of the various activities held throughout the two-day fiesta.

Fiesta Satok 7.0 2026 concluded its scheduled programme on 18 October, following two days of activities at the Satok Community Sports Complex. The event brought together sports, recreation and creative pursuits in a neighbourhood setting, reinforcing its focus on community participation, cooperation and unity among Satok residents. — Sarawak Daily
