KUCHING – The JKKK Sekama has carried out a fire safety awareness initiative aimed at encouraging residents and local businesses to take greater precautions against potential fire hazards.
As part of the initiative, members of the community committee distributed fire safety posters to residents and businesses in the Sekama area.
The programme was intended to reinforce awareness of fire prevention and encourage members of the public to remain vigilant about potential risks in their homes, workplaces and surrounding areas.
JKKK Sekama said fire prevention requires awareness and cooperation from the wider community, with simple reminders helping residents recognise and address potential hazards before incidents occur.
The initiative also highlighted the importance of maintaining a community-wide focus on safety rather than relying solely on emergency response after a fire has started.
The programme was attended by JKKK Sekama chairman Kapitan Kho Phek Choo, acting chairman of SUPP Kuching Branch Jong Yean Pin, acting secretary of SUPP Kuching Branch Wung Duk Ying and former N9 Padungan constituency candidate Peter Pau.
Members of JKKK Sekama also took part in the awareness activity alongside the community representatives.
The distribution of fire safety posters provided an opportunity for the committee to engage directly with residents and local businesses on the importance of fire prevention.
