KUCHING, 14 May 2025 – A group of three men believed to be attempting a break-in at a scrap metal shop in Batu 8, Jalan Muara Tuang, ended up in handcuffs after being caught red-handed by police early this morning.

According to Samarahan District Police Chief, Superintendent Damaterius Lautin, the arrest happened around 12.45am when the Crime Prevention Patrol Unit from the Kota Samarahan Police Station came across the trio just as they were leaving the premises.
“They admitted during early questioning that they had just left the premises with plans to steal,” he said in an official statement.
However, Damaterius confirmed that no items were stolen and there were no seizures made, as the suspects were stopped before they could carry out the theft.
Thanks to the alertness and swift action of the police patrol unit, what could have been a property loss for the business owner was successfully averted.
The authorities are currently continuing their investigation and are working to contact the shop owner to assist further in the case.
The police reminded the public, especially business owners, to always ensure their premises are secured at all times and to consider installing CCTV systems to help in monitoring and crime prevention.
This case highlights the importance of regular police patrols and quick response in preventing crimes, especially in semi-industrial and commercial areas.
