KUCHING – Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, had breakfast at Fian Cafe in Satok on the morning of 3 October.

The couple visited the cafe as part of their morning routine, choosing roti canai while spending time together and enjoying the atmosphere at the local eatery.

Fian Cafe is among the places the Governor and Toh Puan visit for breakfast when their schedule allows. Their latest visit provided an opportunity to spend time in a familiar setting away from formal official engagements.

During the breakfast stop, Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah also met their nephews, Wan Hashim and Syed Sharkawi. The family members spent time together over the morning meal.

The couple also greeted other customers at the cafe, allowing for brief interactions with members of the public who were present during their visit.

Visits by public figures to neighbourhood eateries are also part of the everyday social life of Kuching, where cafes and food stalls serve as common meeting places for families, friends and members of the wider community.

Satok is one of Kuching’s established areas and is known for its mix of residential, commercial and food businesses. Local eateries in the area attract both residents and visitors, contributing to the neighbourhood’s active morning trade.

The breakfast visit was informal in nature, with the focus on family time, a shared meal and interaction with other patrons. No formal programme was attached to the stop.

For Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah, the visit also reflected their continued presence in familiar community settings when their schedule permits. Meeting residents and patrons in everyday locations provides a less formal setting for social interaction.

The morning outing concluded after the couple spent time with family members and greeted fellow patrons at Fian Cafe.

The visit comes as part of the Governor and Toh Puan’s routine public and community presence in Kuching, alongside their formal responsibilities and engagements. – Sarawak Daily
