KUCHING – A total of 152 people received the Sarawak state honours in conjunction with the Birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Gawai Dayak, at an investiture ceremony held at Astana Negeri Sarawak here on Thursday.
The investiture session opened with the conferring of the Pingat Pentadbiran Awam Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (P.P.C) to nine recipients, with Samarahan Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang heading the list. The prize honours remarkable work in public administration and service.
Dr Lim Meng Shi, Murugaiah Meyappan, Sulaiman Salleh and Nor Shahida Mohd Sahimi were among those who received the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (P.B.S) on their dedication towards professional and community service.
Among the 17 who received the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak, Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (P.B.K) were Nur Azhar Bujang, and Abu Hassan Yusuf while among the 20 who were conferred Pingat Pentadbiran Awam Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti are Reynold Johnny Nagat, Sukri Mohtar and Syed Harold Salleh Wan Mohammad.
13 recipients were awarded the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Ahli Bintang Sarawak (A.B.S), among them are Awang Japar Awang Kabar, Abdul Halik Jafar and Aziz Mohammad. Another 21 of them, headed by Albert Tay Seng Pin were awarded the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (A.B.K).
The event also witnessed 32 award recipients, including Datin Daisy Dayus, Anna Aman and Dayang Ajibah Abang Mohd Supian receiving the Pingat Pentadbiran Awam Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (P.P.T).
The largest group of awards was 36 Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S) which were conferred to, among others Dahlan Jeraie, Felix Runya and Hasbullah Bachok.
Among those present at the function were the Governor’s wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi and invited guests such as Sarawak State Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Minister for Women Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Minister for Food Industry Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and M-FICORD Chairman Jitet Mugol Martin Ben.
The awards mirror Sarawak’s tribute to those who have made outstanding contributions and services to the public, community development and profession. The event also emphasised the state government’s commitment in recognizing contributions from various fields, and the role of service and leadership in driving Sarawak forward.
