38 RTP Projects Drive Rural Growth in Tarat Constituency

SIBURAN – A total of 38 projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), amounting to RM5 million, have been approved for the Tarat State Constituency, marking a significant step in strengthening rural development initiatives.

The approval letters were presented to representatives of the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) during a ceremony in Tapah, Siburan.

The event was officiated by Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Skills Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, who also serves as the assemblyman for Tarat.

He highlighted that the projects reflect the state government’s commitment to ensuring rural development remains inclusive, integrated, and impactful for local communities.

“All the approved projects showed that the state government was always doing its utmost to ensure that rural development was integrated, inclusive and had a direct impact on the people,” he said.

The projects cover a wide range of improvements, including the upgrading, maintenance, and reconstruction of public facilities and essential infrastructure.

Among the notable initiatives are the enhancement of JKKK offices, community halls, and village halls in Kampung Senah Rayang, Kampung Pesa, Kampung Gayu, Kampung Subang, Kampung Patung, and Kampung Simpok.

Other projects include rebuilding a garden store in Kampung Chupak, constructing a fireplace in Kampung Stabut, completing Phase 2 of a hall in Kampung Plaman Toop, and developing a guest house in Kampung Stabut.

Additionally, works have been approved for mosques, cemeteries, recreational parks, football fields, drainage systems, and village roads in Kampung Darul Islam Belimbing, Kampung Pesang, Kampung Rudan, Kampung Sinjok, Kampung Plaman Payang, and Kampung Baru Mawang.

Dato Sri Roland Sagah emphasised that these projects are designed to directly benefit residents by improving facilities that support daily life, community activities, and local development.

He noted that the initiatives would help bridge the gap between urban and rural areas, ensuring that rural communities are not left behind in Sarawak’s development agenda.

The RTP, introduced by the Sarawak government, has been instrumental in empowering constituencies to address local needs through targeted funding. By focusing on grassroots priorities, the programme enables communities to enhance infrastructure, improve public amenities, and strengthen social cohesion.

For Tarat, the implementation of these 38 projects is expected to deliver long-term benefits, fostering better living standards and supporting economic growth in the constituency.

The projects also highlight the importance of collaboration between government agencies, local leaders, and community organisations in driving sustainable rural development.

With the latest allocation, Tarat continues to demonstrate how strategic investments in infrastructure and community facilities can uplift rural areas, ensuring that residents enjoy improved access to services and opportunities.
