46 Headmasters and Teachers in Tatau Recognised as Accredited KRS Officers

TATAU – A total of 46 headmasters and teachers from the Tatau District have officially received their School Cadet Corps (KRS) officer accreditation certificates, marking a key step in strengthening uniformed co-curricular leadership at the school level.

The 2025 Tatau District KRS Officer Accreditation Ceremony, held at SMK Tatau’s Open Hall, was officiated by Sarawak KRS Education Director, Omar Mahli, from the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS).

“This accreditation is a formal recognition of those who have completed their training and fulfilled the criteria as KRS officers,” said Omar.

“It reinforces confidence in school management and lays the foundation for more structured and impactful KRS and TKRS programmes across schools and districts.”

Building Character Through Co-Curricular Leadership

Omar highlighted that the accreditation plays a crucial role in developing holistic student potential through physical, emotional, and spiritual growth — in line with the National Education Philosophy.

He added that the School Cadet Corps is a vital vehicle for character building, promoting discipline and unity while helping address issues such as truancy, drug abuse, and other social challenges among students.

“The presence of trained and uniformed KRS officers in schools not only adds structure but also sets an example of discipline and patriotism,” he said.

Upholding Uniform Protocol

Omar also reminded accredited officers to comply with the Ministry of Education’s directive (Press Release No. 19/2013) that requires all KRS officers to wear their uniforms every Wednesday, to uphold the image and identity of KRS as MOE’s official uniformed body.

The event was also attended by District Education Officer Fred Entau, who is also the Tatau-Sebauh District KRS Officer, and Deputy KRS Officer, Tero Bayel.
