BELADIN: In a significant stride towards enhancing the livelihoods of local fishermen, 58 families in Beladin have been handed the keys to new homes under the Beladin Fishermen Resettlement Programme (PSN). This initiative aims to provide modern housing facilities, ensuring a comfortable living environment for the fishing community.
Beting Maro assemblyman, Razaili Gapor, officiated the handover ceremony, emphasizing the program’s role in uplifting the socio-economic status of fishermen. He highlighted that such initiatives are crucial for community development and reflect the government’s commitment to supporting essential industries.
In a generous move to assist the beneficiaries, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg contributed RM10,000 per household. This financial aid is intended to help families settle into their new homes, covering initial expenses and ensuring a smooth transition.
The event also underscored the completion of a new fish landing complex in the area. Razaili expressed optimism that the facility would soon be operational, potentially boosting the local fisheries industry by providing better infrastructure for fish processing and distribution.
“With improving infrastructure and the great potential of Beladin’s fisheries industry, it is hoped that initiatives like these will continue to expand for the benefit of fishermen and the local economy,” he stated.
In addition to the housing allocations, the ceremony coincided with the distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’ (a traditional savory porridge) to the local community in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan. This gesture fostered a sense of unity and shared joy among residents, marking the occasion as a memorable milestone for Beladin’s fishing community.
