KUCHING, April 15 — A tense situation in a residential area at Kampung Segedup ended safely after a large python was successfully captured by members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Kuching District on Wednesday.

The incident began when a concerned resident contacted authorities after discovering a snake in the yard of their home. The unexpected sight caused alarm among family members, prompting an urgent call for assistance. Responding swiftly to the report, APM Kuching personnel were dispatched to the location to assess and manage the situation.

Upon arrival, the team identified the reptile as a python measuring approximately seven feet in length and weighing 16.69 kilograms. Despite the potential danger posed by the animal, the trained personnel carried out the operation with precision and calmness. Using proper equipment and standard safety procedures, the team managed to secure and capture the snake without causing harm to residents or themselves.

According to APM Kuching, such incidents are not uncommon in areas located near vegetation or forested surroundings, especially during certain weather conditions when wildlife may wander into human settlements. The agency emphasised that public safety remains their top priority and urged residents to remain cautious when encountering wild animals.

The successful operation highlighted the professionalism and courage of APM personnel, who acted without hesitation to ensure the safety of the community. Their quick response helped prevent any injuries and restored peace of mind to the affected household.
