TELUK INTAN, 13 MAY 2025 – A tragic accident involving a Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) lorry and another lorry carrying stones has claimed the lives of nine FRU officers this morning.
The fatal crash occurred on Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam, sending shockwaves through the police force and the public alike. According to Hilir Perak District Police Chief ACP Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin, all nine victims were members of FRU Unit 5 Ipoh.
The impact of the collision was so severe that multiple FRU personnel died at the scene. The bodies have been sent to Teluk Intan Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
ACP Dr Bakri confirmed that the identities of the deceased have yet to be fully verified, as investigations are still ongoing. He added that the authorities are working closely with the hospital to complete identification procedures and notify the families of the victims.
Images from the accident site show the FRU lorry heavily damaged, believed to have collided head-on with the stone-laden lorry. Emergency responders, including fire and rescue teams, were quickly dispatched to the scene to assist with the recovery operations.
This tragedy has brought national attention and sympathy, especially towards the sacrifices of enforcement personnel who serve the country. Many Malaysians have expressed condolences to the families of the fallen officers on social media, with calls for improved road safety for official vehicles transporting uniformed personnel.
