PADAWAN – A total of 93 students from government, private and vocational institutions of higher learning (IPT) in Padawan have received financial support under the Student Incentive Programme 2025, amounting to RM80,300.
The initiative was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport (Air & Land) Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil, who described the programme as more than financial aid, calling it a long-term investment in the future of Sarawak’s younger generation.
He explained that the assistance covered students at multiple levels of study, including certificate, diploma, degree and master programmes. “Although the amount of assistance is small, if used wisely, it can help ease the burden of the family and encourage the students to continue to succeed,” he said during the distribution ceremony held at the Jong Clan Association Hall on Saturday.
Datuk Dr. Jerip expressed appreciation to the Jong Clan Association for their cooperation in organising the event and supporting the students.
He acknowledged the financial challenges faced by parents in funding their children’s education and assured that the programme would continue to ensure no student is left behind due to financial constraints.
The Mambong assemblyman emphasised that education is a vital tool for improving the living standards of rural communities.
“We want our children to have the knowledge and skills to be able to stand on their own and boost the development of Mambong and Sarawak,” he said.
He also reminded recipients to value the sacrifices of their parents and the commitment of community leaders who consistently strive to provide educational opportunities for the younger generation.
The Student Incentive Programme reflects Sarawak’s broader commitment to human capital development, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds are supported in their pursuit of higher education.
By investing in education, the state aims to empower rural communities and strengthen the foundation for long-term socio-economic growth.
