Woman Found Dead in MJC Batu Kawa: Police Confirm Murder Investigation

KUCHING (Feb 8): The death of a woman found in a rental room at MJC Batu Kawa has been confirmed as a murder case, according to Padawan District police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi. Initially reported as a sudden death, further investigation revealed signs of foul play.

Preliminary investigations found a fabric ligature around the victim’s neck, suggesting possible strangulation. Due to this discovery, the case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“The victim was found unconscious in the rented room, lying face down on a mattress. There was a fabric ligature around her neck, and a medical officer confirmed that she had died,” said Mohd Irwan in a statement.

Police received a report regarding the incident at 2.16pm yesterday at the Batu Kawa police station. Upon arrival, authorities secured the scene and began a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Authorities are urging the public to assist with the investigation. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the investigating officer, ASP Sylvarius, at 013-863 7241, or reach out to the Padawan District Police Headquarters’ operations centre at 082-862 233.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents concerned about safety in the area. Police are working tirelessly to piece together what happened and ensure justice is served.
