Billy Sujang Witnesses Handover of Completed and Ongoing RTP Projects in Opar

OPAR, SARAWAK: Opar State Assemblyman (ADUN), Billy Sujang, recently witnessed the handover of four completed Rural Transformation Program (RTP) projects and two ongoing projects in a ceremony held on Thursday morning. These initiatives aim to enhance infrastructure and facilities for the local community, with a total allocation of RM760,000.

Among the completed projects are:

  • Renovation of the Old Kampung Stungkor Traditional House
  • Upgrading of the Kampung Bokah Hall
  • Reconstruction of the Kampung Sebandi Hilir Multipurpose Hall
  • Upgrading of the Kampung Perian Traditional House

Meanwhile, two more projects are still in progress:

  • Upgrading of the Kampung Serayan Hilir Public Hall
  • Upgrading of the Kampung Serayan Baru Multipurpose Hall

In his speech, Billy Sujang highlighted that several projects will require a second phase due to budget limitations during the initial phase of implementation. He confirmed that the second phase of Kampung Sebandi Hilir Multipurpose Hall will proceed under the 2025 RTP with an additional allocation of RM200,000.

Billy emphasized the importance of these projects in improving the quality of life for the rural community. “These developments are part of our commitment to ensure rural areas are not left behind in terms of infrastructure and public facilities,” he said.

The handover ceremony was also attended by Niponi Undek, Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, along with representatives from the Lundu District Public Works Department (JKR), who ensured the smooth progress of the projects.

These projects are expected to further boost the socio-economic development in the Opar area, providing upgraded facilities for various community activities.
