Tragic Bintulu Crash: Three Dead, Two Seriously Injured

BINTULU: A tragic accident involving a car and a lorry on Jalan Pesisir Pantai Bintulu – Samalaju early this morning claimed three lives and left two others seriously injured.

The victims who lost their lives have been identified as Nur Azalea Zakiah Jiben (44), Ariana Juana Helda (22), and Simon Hiu (39). All three were in the car along with two other passengers who sustained severe injuries.

According to a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), the two critically injured victims were identified as Roslan Langga (52) and Ningkan Chalana (50).

Meanwhile, three individuals in the three-tonne lorry involved in the collision suffered minor injuries. The lorry driver, who managed to escape, sustained a broken leg.

Emergency Response

The fire department received an emergency call at 6.51 am and quickly dispatched personnel from Kidurong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), assisted by Samalaju BBP.

The rescue team, led by PBK I Fabian Andy Jesi, involved 14 personnel and two vehicles. Upon arrival, they found that the victims in the car were trapped.

“Three victims in the car were found dead at the scene. Two were successfully removed by the fire department and were in critical condition,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Multi-Agency Effort

The rescue operation also involved:
Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) – Five officers on-site
Ministry of Health (MOH) staff – Five personnel with two ambulances

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident. Road users are advised to exercise caution while driving, especially on highways with heavy vehicle traffic.
