Van Driver Breaks Leg in Crash, Seven Passengers Escape Unhurt in Sibu!

SIBU: A van driver suffered a broken leg while seven passengers escaped unharmed after a collision involving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at Kilometre 11, Jalan Sibu-Selangau, in front of Rumah Seri Kenangan.

The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sibu Zone received an emergency call regarding the accident at 2.21 pm, according to JBPM Sibu Zone Chief Andy Alie.

SUV Lost Control Before Hitting the Van

Andy stated that a fire rescue team from Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“The accident is believed to have occurred when the SUV driver, who was coming from the airport direction, lost control and crashed into a road barrier before colliding with the van,” he said.

Van Driver Trapped, Rescued by Firefighters

The van driver was trapped in his seat after the impact.

“Firefighters managed to force open the van door and safely rescue the driver. He sustained a broken right leg, while all seven passengers inside the van were unharmed,” Andy added.

Meanwhile, the SUV driver and four passengers, including an eight-month-old baby, were reported to be safe.

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash.
