Tragic Crash in Bintangor: Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Accident

BINTANGOR: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 25-year-old motorcyclist after she was hit by a car at Jalan Selidap (Bintangor–Sarikei) this afternoon.

Meradong District Police Chief, DSP Sekam Anoi, confirmed that the victim died at the scene, while a 16-year-old pillion rider sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sarikei Hospital for treatment.

Accident Involved Three Vehicles

The fatal crash, which occurred around 2.30 pm, involved a Mitsubishi Triton pickup, a Perodua Alza, and a Honda RSX motorcycle.

According to initial police investigations, the accident happened when the Mitsubishi Triton stopped as the vehicle in front was making a right turn at an intersection.

“Suddenly, a Honda RSX motorcycle coming from the same direction collided into the back of the Mitsubishi Triton, causing both the motorcyclist and the pillion to be thrown into the opposite lane,” DSP Sekam said in a statement.

Perodua Alza Unable to Avoid the Collision

Tragically, a Perodua Alza coming from the opposite direction was unable to avoid the fallen motorcycle and crashed into it, resulting in fatal injuries to the rider.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Triton, Perodua Alza, and their passengers were unharmed.

Victim’s Body Taken for Autopsy

The deceased’s body was later transported to the Sarikei Hospital morgue for an autopsy, while the police are continuing their investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Authorities are urging road users to stay alert and drive cautiously to prevent further tragedies on Malaysian roads.
