Couple Injured in Simpang Saratok Road Accident

SARATOK, SARAWAK – A married couple sustained injuries following a collision between their motorcycle and a car at Jalan Simpang Saratok, opposite Wadira Food Court, this afternoon.

Sarawak Zone 3 Fire Chief, Muhammad Rais Adham Rosalan, stated that the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call regarding the accident at approximately 12:15 pm.

According to initial reports, the accident involved a grey Toyota Estima colliding with a black Honda Wave motorcycle. The couple, who were riding the motorcycle, sustained injuries, while the driver of the Estima was unharmed.

Upon arriving at the scene, rescue personnel assessed the situation using the Rescue-Exposure-Containment-Extinguishment-Recovery (RECEO) concept to ensure an efficient and safe rescue operation.

Firefighters Assist in Evacuating Victims

Muhammad Rais stated that firefighters carefully lifted the female victim using a stretcher and placed her inside the Fire and Rescue Department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) ambulance. Her husband was also transported in the same ambulance.

Both victims were immediately taken to Saratok Hospital for further medical treatment.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the accident, and an investigation is ongoing. Road users are urged to stay alert and drive safely, especially in busy areas like Simpang Saratok.
