KUCHING: A Proton Wira was completely destroyed in a fire at the Menara Pelita car park, Jalan Keruing, this afternoon. The sudden blaze caused panic among bystanders, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

PBK Operations Commander I Pandi Seh stated that the fire brigade acted swiftly, using two first aid hoses to contain the flames. The fire was fully extinguished by 1.18 pm, and the operation was officially concluded 10 minutes later after ensuring the area was safe.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are still investigating the incident. The estimated cost of damage has yet to be determined.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the vehicle before flames engulfed it. Some attempted to alert the owner, but the fire spread too quickly. Thanks to the rapid response of the firefighters, the fire did not spread to other vehicles or nearby structures.

This incident serves as a reminder for vehicle owners to regularly check their cars for potential fire hazards, such as electrical faults or fuel leaks. Authorities also urge the public to remain vigilant and report any emergencies immediately to prevent further damage or loss.
