Sarawak Premier Attends Grand Aidilfitri Open House at State Astana

KUCHING: Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari Tun Openg, and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang, graced the 2025 Aidilfitri Reception Ceremony at the Sarawak State Astana on Monday. The event was hosted by the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.

Before attending the reception, the Sarawak Premier performed the Aidilfitri Sunat Prayer at the Sarawak State Jamek Mosque, marking the spiritual significance of the festive celebration.

The open house witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 1,000 guests comprising members of the public, representatives from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private sector professionals, uniformed personnel, and people from all walks of life. The gathering reflected the inclusive and harmonious spirit of Aidilfitri in Sarawak.

Guests were treated to an array of traditional delicacies, including rendang, ketupat, satay, mee jawa, and other festive delights that enhanced the joyous atmosphere. The event served as a wonderful opportunity for attendees to bond over food and celebration.

Beyond the festive feasting, the open house played a vital role in strengthening ties between leaders and the people. It also served as a platform to promote unity and togetherness, key values that define Sarawak’s multicultural society.

Among the notable attendees were the Deputy Premiers of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Prof. Dr Sim Kui Hian, as well as various Sarawak Cabinet ministers, further emphasizing the importance of this event in fostering goodwill and community spirit. – Sarawakku
