Missing Man Found Dead by Sibu River, Case Classified as Sudden Death

SIBU, 20 April – A man who was reported missing by his employer earlier this week has been confirmed dead after his body was discovered near the riverbank at Jalan Lanang.

“Initial investigations have confirmed that the body belongs to the man who was reported missing on April 15 by his employer,” he said in a press statement.

The case is currently being treated as a sudden death. Police are still conducting further investigations to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.

ACP Zulkipli also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or making assumptions that could disrupt the investigation process.

“The public is reminded not to speculate on the case as it may affect our ongoing investigation,” he added.

He also appealed to anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the police. Individuals can reach out directly to the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Minggu Morziri, at 084-344111 or 014-2913703.

The body has since been sent to the Sibu Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

The community around Sibu, especially those who frequent the Jalan Lanang area, is encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

This incident marks another somber reminder of the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting when someone goes missing.
