KUCHING, 26 April 2025 – A 34-year-old man tragically lost his life after being shot while sitting in a car along Jalan Stephen Yong early this morning.

“The two men brought their injured friend to the station. Unfortunately, when medical officers examined the victim, they confirmed that he had already passed away,” said Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz in an official statement released today.

Investigations revealed that the victim, who was a passenger in the car at the time, had sustained gunshot wounds to the head.

Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz added that police have opened a murder investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.

Authorities are now working hard to track down the person responsible for this heinous crime. Police are urging any members of the public who might have witnessed the incident or have any information to come forward.

Those who can assist in the investigation are advised to contact the investigating officer, ASP Sylvarius, directly at 013-863 7241.

This tragic case has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising fresh concerns about public safety in what is usually a peaceful part of Kuching.
