SRI AMAN, April 26 – Seven people, including three young children and a six-month-old baby, were injured in a road accident at Kampung Punggu Dadak along the Sri Aman-Serian Road early this morning.
According to a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre (PGO), the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call about the accident at around 7.45am.
Three firemen, led by Senior Fire Officer II Nicholas Langi, were immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving the alert.
“Upon arrival, our Operations Response Team (PKO) discovered that the accident involved a Perodua Viva, with three adults and a baby injured inside. Thankfully, three children in the same vehicle escaped without injuries,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
The PGO explained that the team quickly carried out an initial assessment at the scene, using full personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency kit supplies to provide first aid to one of the female victims.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) team treated three other victims at the scene.
All seven victims were then transported to Sri Aman Hospital 2 for further treatment using the Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicles and a Ministry of Health ambulance.
The operation ended after the victims were safely handed over to the hospital for continued medical attention.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the self-driving crash.
The Sri Aman-Serian Road, especially near rural villages like Kampung Punggu Dadak, remains a busy route. Motorists are advised to drive carefully and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before travelling.
