Woman Injured in Early Morning Alza Crash in Sibu

SIBU, 2 May 2025 – A woman endured a terrifying moment after the Perodua Alza she was driving skidded and crashed on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, just before the flyover, early this morning. The violent impact resulted in injuries to both the driver and her young passenger.

The incident, which occurred around 6.20am, prompted an immediate response from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO). A team of seven personnel from the Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) and a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle were dispatched to the scene.

According to a statement from the PGO, initial investigations revealed that the vehicle likely lost control and skidded on its own.

“The female driver was believed to have been thrown from the car due to the impact,” the statement read. “Meanwhile, the male passenger, estimated to be around 11 years old, managed to exit the vehicle safely before the fire department arrived.”

Medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) were also at the scene to provide emergency aid. The 38-year-old driver sustained moderate injuries, while the young boy suffered only minor wounds.

Rescue personnel also carried out road-flushing operations to ensure the area was safe for other road users. The clean-up and rescue operations concluded at 7.53am.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, and the public is reminded to exercise caution while driving, especially during early morning hours when roads may be slippery.
