Man Injured After Crashing Into Lorry at Jepak Junction, Bintulu

BINTULU, May 10, 2025 – A 31-year-old man was seriously injured after his car crashed into the back of a container lorry at the traffic light junction near Kampung Jepak in Bintulu early this morning.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s Operation Centre (PGO), an emergency call was received at 12:12 AM, and a team from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival at 12:21 AM, firefighters found that the accident involved a Perodua Bezza which had crashed into the rear of a container lorry. The driver, identified as Edward Bilong, 31, was trapped in the driver’s seat and sustained multiple injuries, including a broken right leg.

Rescue personnel used special extraction tools to free the victim from the badly damaged car. He was then handed over to an ambulance team from Nyabau Hospital for further treatment.

Fortunately, the lorry driver was unharmed.

Authorities are reminding road users to stay alert, especially during late-night and early-morning hours when visibility is low and roads may be slippery or less monitored.
