Rural Development Progresses in Bintangor, Citizens Urged to Utilise Provided Facilities

BINTANGOR: Rural communities in Sarawak are seeing tangible improvements as the government continues to implement various development projects aimed at enhancing quality of life and reducing the urban-rural divide.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS) and Semop State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, highlighted that the success of these rural initiatives depends heavily on the strong collaboration between state and parliamentary representatives.

“Numerous basic infrastructure projects have been delivered in rural areas to ensure that the people are not left behind in development. This is made possible through the close understanding and cooperation between ADUNs and Members of Parliament,” he said during the Ngiling Bidai Gawai Programme in Semop on Sunday.

The event was also joined by Tanjong Manis MP and Malaysia CIDB Chairman, Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab, and took place at two venues—James Berandah Kasin’s longhouse in Muara Bunut in the morning and Noven Naong’s longhouse in Selidap in the afternoon.

The celebrations were lively, embracing rich Dayak traditions and showcasing the unity and spirit of the longhouse communities.

In his address, Datuk Abdullah encouraged locals to leverage improved connectivity and infrastructure to market local produce such as agricultural goods, livestock, and river products to strengthen the local economy.

He also reminded the public that every development project request must go through due processes, and urged longhouse communities to be patient and understanding as these procedures are part of ensuring proper implementation.

The ceremony drew strong support from local community and longhouse leaders in Muara Bunut and Selidap, reaffirming the people’s backing for government-led development efforts.
