TYT Sarawak Praises NGOs for Fostering Unity and Community Development

KUCHING – His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, expressed pride and appreciation for the significant role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in fostering social unity and contributing actively to the development of Sarawak’s communities.

To honour their efforts, Astana Negeri Sarawak hosted an afternoon tea ceremony today at the Santapan Hall, Surau Astana Negeri, bringing together representatives from 64 NGOs active in welfare, education, health, and community development.

Representing Tun Pehin Sri, Yang Bahagia Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Hamzah bin Syed Paie, Senior Secretary to the Head of State, delivered the official mandate and welcomed guests.

In his speech, Tun Pehin Sri stressed that NGOs are key partners in advancing community development at the grassroots level and serve as catalysts in promoting unity and harmony among the people.

He added that such engagements should continue to strengthen cooperation between community organisations and nurture a lasting culture of volunteerism across all levels of society.
