Australian Minister in Kuching to Boost Ties With Sarawak

Australian Minister in Kuching to Boost Ties With Sarawak

KUCHING: The Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations of the Northern Territory of Australia, Robyn Cahill, arrived in Kuching today for a four-day official visit aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between Sarawak and Australia.

Her visit is focused on strengthening collaboration in tourism, culture, and community relations, while also reinforcing diplomatic and people-to-people engagement between both regions.

Robyn began her itinerary with a visit to the Borneo Cultures Museum (BCM) at 11 a.m., where she was welcomed and briefed on Sarawak’s diverse multi-ethnic heritage. The museum tour featured a wide array of historical artefacts and interactive exhibits representing the Dayak, Malay, Melanau, and Chinese communities.

Accompanied by liaison officer Yasmin Khalid Nicholls, Robyn expressed interest in the cultural richness of Sarawak and how it complements efforts to promote deeper understanding and social exchanges between the people of Sarawak and the Northern Territory.

Her schedule includes an official meeting with Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, at Wisma Sumber Alam, followed by a formal dinner reception hosted by another Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, at the Borneo Cultures Museum.

This visit is expected to pave the way for future cooperation initiatives and strengthen economic, cultural, and institutional partnerships between the two regions.
