SEPANG: Police have arrested three individuals, including two women, to assist in the investigation into the tragic murder of a 20-year-old university student found dead in her residential unit in Cyberjaya earlier this week.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 20, were detained by a joint operation involving Bukit Aman, the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), and the Sepang District Police Headquarters (IPD). The arrests were made across locations in Johor Bahru and Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, between 9am Thursday and 2am Friday.
According to Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman, the operation was carried out within 48 hours of the initial report being filed.
“All suspects will be remanded in custody to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said in a statement today.
ACP Norhizam also urged the public to refrain from speculating or sharing unverified information that could interfere with the ongoing investigation.
The police had received a report on Tuesday at 10.28am about the discovery of the female victim’s body in her Cyberjaya residence. Initial inspection of the scene revealed no signs of forced entry, but the victim had serious injuries to her head.
The victim’s body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Serdang Hospital for post-mortem examination, which confirmed the cause of death as a strong blow to the head. Investigators have ruled out any element of sexual assault.
The case continues to be actively investigated, and authorities are calling on anyone with relevant information to come forward.
