77 Tasik Biru Entities Receive RM1.01M Rural Development Grants

BAU — Seventy-seven community organizations in the Tasik Biru constituency received RM1,009,207 in Rural Small Project Grants (MRP) on Tuesday, accelerating local development initiatives across religious institutions, village committees, and non-governmental groups.

Tasik Biru Assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep, who is also Sarawak’s Deputy Minister of Transport (River and Sea), confirmed this marks the third MRP disbursement in 2024, bringing the year’s total allocations to RM3,260,444.

“These funds support essential annual programs—from utility payments and hall operations to critical building repairs,” he stated during the distribution ceremony at the Bau District Office.

The grants exclusively benefit Sarawak-based entities, with Jinep emphasizing: “Applications from outside the state are ineligible.” The funding strengthens grassroots governance through Village Development and Safety Committees (JKKK) while enabling NGOs and places of worship to address infrastructure gaps.

Bau District Officer Eddy Nayoi oversaw the distribution, which targets operational sustainability for rural organizations. Notably, portions of the annual RM3.26 million allocation extend to qualifying groups beyond Tasik Biru’s immediate boundaries, reflecting broader regional development priorities.
