KUCHING — Over 300 congregants filled Darul Akmal Mosque in Samariang Aman for a spiritually enriching Ma’al Hijrah 1447H lecture organized by YADIM Sarawak on Friday.
The event featured prominent speaker Ustaz Syamsul Debat, who delivered the keynote “Hijrah Keluarga Muslim: Menuju Rumahku, Syurgaku” (Muslim Family Hijrah: Toward My Home, My Heaven) following Maghrib prayers.
Santubong MP and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri graced the occasion, endorsing the initiative as “a vital platform to fortify family foundations through Islamic teachings.”
In her address, Shukri emphasized: “Mosques serve as cornerstones for nurturing spiritually resilient households – especially crucial as digital distractions challenge traditional values.”
Ustaz Syamsul captivated attendees with his blend of theological depth and relatable humor, framing “hijrah” as a continuous journey toward God-centred households.
“True family prosperity begins when homes become microcosms of paradise through Quranic principles,” he asserted, citing practical strategies for balancing modern pressures with faith commitments.
The lecture addressed contemporary challenges including screen-time management, intergenerational communication, and financial ethics through an Islamic lens.
YADIM Sarawak coordinator Iskandar Zulkarnain noted this inaugural Hijrah lecture series will expand to 10 mosques statewide, with recorded sessions available on the foundation’s digital platforms by Muharram 1447H.
