KUCHING – The ongoing menace of mat rempit in Kuching saw a firm police response when a large-scale operation was carried out at Jalan Astana following a viral Facebook video showing a noisy and dangerous motorcycle gathering.

According to Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, seven men—ranging from teenagers to early 20s—were arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding. These individuals were among those seen riding illegally modified motorcycles, causing serious noise disturbances for nearby residents.
