The visit allowed Edwin to interact personally with residents, listen to their concerns, and observe first-hand the current living conditions and development needs of the interior community in Kakus.

Speaking during the event, Edwin reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the socio-economic wellbeing of rural communities. “The government will continue working to uplift the people, especially those in remote areas. We want to ensure no one is left behind as Sarawak moves forward with development,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the Bagatan community for their solid support for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition during the last General Election.

Edwin emphasised that various rural empowerment initiatives would be introduced to support the Sarawak Government’s goal of becoming a high-income and developed state by 2030.

“The voices and needs of the interior communities will always be taken seriously. Development should be inclusive, and we will continue to channel resources to ensure rural areas grow alongside urban centres,” he added.

The event was also attended by local leaders including Chief Sekaya Tulong, Chief Surang Takin, and Chief Bansa Kunchau, along with other community representatives.

The visit reflects Edwin Banta’s consistent down-to-earth approach in strengthening bonds with grassroots communities and ensuring their concerns are heard at the federal level.
