Among the areas hit hardest were Taman Awam, Taman Tunku, Tanjung Lobang, and roads such as Jalan Pulau Melayu and Jalan Kuala Baram. Several large trees were uprooted due to the intensity of the wind, blocking roads and damaging vehicles.

In Kampung Muhibbah Kuala Baram, a resident’s home suffered major damage when strong gusts tore off part of the roof, flinging the debris several metres away. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the damage to the property was significant, leaving the occupants to seek temporary shelter with relatives.

Meanwhile, in Sealine 2, a tree fell and crashed onto a parked car, causing severe damage to the vehicle. There were no occupants in the car at the time of the incident.

Upon receiving emergency calls from the public, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) quickly dispatched their teams to affected locations. The crews immediately carried out operations to cut and remove fallen trees, clear the debris, and ensure the areas were safe for residents and motorists.

Authorities are reminding the public to stay vigilant, especially during the current unpredictable weather patterns. Motorists are advised to avoid parking under trees and residents are encouraged to reinforce rooftops and structures in preparation for possible future storms.

The Miri Disaster Management Committee is monitoring the situation closely and has advised residents to report any emergencies directly through the proper channels.
