Batang Saribas 1 Bridge Project Marks Progress with Launch Rehearsal

Batang Saribas 1 Bridge Project Marks Progress with Launch Rehearsal

BETONG – The much-anticipated Batang Saribas 1 Bridge project is moving forward as scheduled, with a launch rehearsal held recently ahead of its official inauguration.

Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, visited the site on Day Five of preparations to inspect progress and witness the dry-run of the launch ceremony.

He was joined by Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor, Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli, and representatives from various government agencies. The bridge is scheduled to be officially launched on the sixth day of the programme by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

The Batang Saribas 1 Bridge is a key infrastructure project for the Betong Division, particularly the Saribas region, aiming to stimulate economic transformation and improve connectivity.

Locals expressed gratitude, highlighting how the bridge would greatly ease travel for elderly residents and traders, particularly those commuting to and from Pusa Market.

“This bridge will shorten travel times and ease daily journeys, especially for the elderly. We’re thankful to the state government and Premier for making this long-awaited project a reality,” said one local resident.

The bridge is seen as a symbol of progress and a major step forward in Sarawak’s push for balanced rural development and economic empowerment.
