SAMARAHAN – The PPNS Agriculture Mini Expo 2025 is set to accelerate the growth of Sarawak’s agro-based sector by showcasing the latest in smart farming technology and promoting commercial agriculture among the local population.

Held at Begunan PPNS, Jalan Muttaqin, the event aims to empower farmers, entrepreneurs, and youth by equipping them with knowledge and tools to embrace modern agricultural practices.

Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, said Sarawak has vast land potential and should leverage it to expand its agricultural sector through innovation and technology.

“This expo educates the community on the use of smart agriculture and provides access to technologies that can boost productivity and income,” he said during the opening ceremony on Friday.

The mini expo, organised by Persatuan Penganjur Nengeri Sarawak (PPNS), featured exhibitions of agricultural products, live demonstrations of modern farming tools, and engagement sessions between innovators and agro-entrepreneurs. It also included platforms for product marketing and knowledge sharing.

Dr Rundi added that the event plays a critical role in encouraging more people to venture into agropreneurship and helps bridge the gap between growers, traders, and government agencies.

“We hope to cultivate a new generation of innovative farmers who can contribute to the state’s economic growth and food security,” he said.

He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting such initiatives by providing training, incentives, and infrastructure development to strengthen Sarawak’s agriculture sector.
