SUPP Batu Lintang’s Mobile Service Reaches Out to Seniors at Hawker Centre

KUCHING – The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Batu Lintang Branch successfully concluded its latest mobile service programme at Batu Lintang Hawker Centre, drawing strong public participation – particularly from senior citizens eager to learn about state welfare initiatives.

In just a few hours, the team engaged with numerous members of the community, many of whom came forward to inquire about the Kenyalang Gold Card and Senior Citizen Health Benefits, two key programmes aimed at supporting Sarawak’s elderly population.

According to the organising committee, the purpose of the mobile service is to bring government and community assistance closer to the people, rather than waiting in offices for public walk-ins.

“We are committed to walking into every corner of the constituency,” said a SUPP Chairman Sih Hua Tong. “Our goal is to ensure no one is left behind, especially our elderly who deserve every opportunity to access the support provided to them.”

The outreach programme saw a dedicated team of volunteers and SUPP members stationed at the hawker centre, where they patiently guided senior citizens through the process of registration, benefit explanation, and eligibility inquiries.

The event ended on a high note, with positive feedback from both attendees and the public. Many praised the initiative’s grassroots approach and personal touch.

Special appreciation was also extended to volunteers, including notable local figures such as Sih Hua Tong, John Wong Kueh Siaw Foong, 許義華, Roy Mason, Keng Yew Tan, Ah Pao Jin, Amy Ho, Veronica Liaw and many more, for contributing their time and effort.

The SUPP Batu Lintang Branch announced that the next destination for their mobile service will be revealed soon, and urged the public to follow their official Facebook page for updates.
