KUALA LUMPUR: The joy and vibrancy of Sarawak Day reached the heart of the nation’s capital as approximately 150 distinguished guests gathered in the Malaysian Parliament to celebrate the occasion, marking a moment of pride and unity for Sarawakians nationwide.

The event, hosted by Minister of Labour, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, highlighted the cultural richness and resilient unity of the Sarawakian people amid Malaysia’s complex multicultural landscape. It was also graced by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, Head of Dewan Negara Dato Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, a number of federal ministers and deputy ministers, as well as Members of Parliament from the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.

Guests were treated to an array of traditional Sarawakian delicacies such as mee kolok, nasi aruk, Sarawak laksa, and the ever-iconic kek lapis (layer cake), offering a flavourful journey into the state’s multicultural identity.

Beyond food and festivity, the celebration served as a platform to reinforce the spirit of unity and the importance of preserving Sarawak’s cultural heritage. It underscored Sarawak Day as more than a commemorative event — it is a reaffirmation of shared values and a united commitment to advancing Sarawak’s aspirations within the framework of a harmonious and progressive Malaysia.
