LABUAN – The arrival of Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen Mother of Malaysia, in Labuan today was warmly welcomed by Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, as part of the official programme for the inaugural Borneo Flora Festival 2025.

Her Majesty landed at Labuan Airport around 11.30 am, accompanied by Her Excellency Tunku Idris Iskandar, the Tunku Temenggong of Johor. The royal visit marks a significant moment for the federal territory of Labuan, which is hosting the Borneo Flora Festival for the first time.

Toh Puan Fauziah praised the festival’s debut in Labuan, highlighting it as a progressive move to enhance regional participation in initiatives that celebrate natural beauty, floriculture, and community engagement. She emphasised the importance of promoting floral artistry and environmental appreciation as a means to empower local communities and strengthen inter-state cultural bonds.

She also expressed her hopes that the Borneo Flora Festival would not only become an annual tradition but also be extended to other Malaysian states in the future, encouraging wider participation and recognition for the country’s rich biodiversity and horticultural talents.
