Sematan Festival 2025 Draws Thousands on Second Day with Star Performances

SEMATAN – The Sematan Festival 2025 entered its second day with great fanfare, attracting more than 3,000 visitors including locals and international tourists. Organised by the Lundu District Office, the event transformed Sematan town into a vibrant hub of cultural celebration, community spirit, and entertainment.

Among the special guests was Malaysia’s Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, who addressed the community and expressed her support for impactful community-driven events like this. Her presence underscored the government’s encouragement of social cohesion and tourism development through such festivals.

Throughout the day, a wide range of activities catered to all ages and interests, including Beach Tug of War, Speed Boating, Folk Sports, Futsal, Karaoke, and Badminton. These events not only entertained, but also strengthened bonds among community members and visiting tourists.

The highlight of the day was the Folk Concert held at night, featuring dynamic performances by some of Malaysia’s most beloved artists—Eyqa Saiful, Amelina, and Rahmat Mega. Their energetic shows kept the crowd enthralled and added to the lively spirit of the festival.

The Sematan Festival 2025 continues to offer an exciting line-up of cultural, sporting, and recreational activities throughout the weekend. With its growing popularity, Sematan is quickly cementing its place as a key cultural tourism destination in the Kuching Division of Sarawak.
