Kapit Residents Urged to Unite for Continued Progress

KAPIT — Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has called on all stakeholders in the Kapit Division to continue working together as a united team to ensure that the region stays on track for development and prosperity.

Speaking at the Kapit Division Thanksgiving and Appreciation Ceremony on Sunday, Nanta said the people of Kapit must reflect on the past, when political division slowed progress and made development harder to achieve.

“Now that we are under one roof politically—Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)—and our elected representatives are working hand in hand, Kapit has progressed far beyond what we had only dreamed of before,” he said.

He added that political stability and cohesive collaboration between elected officials, government agencies, and community leaders have contributed significantly to the successful rollout of development plans in the area.

“Previously, leadership was more focused on industrial areas, and rural regions like Kapit received little attention and smaller allocations. That has now changed dramatically,” Nanta said. “Our close cooperation is something other areas envy. It is this teamwork that drives our progress, and it must continue.”

The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kapit, emphasised that development must reach every corner of the division and acknowledged the key roles played by Community Leaders and Tribal Leaders (KMKK).

During the event, Dato Sri Alexander also presented tokens of appreciation to retired government employees and those who had been transferred to other locations.

“To our retirees, thank you for your service. And to those who have transferred, we hope you bring with you the good name of Kapit and the experience you’ve gained,” he said.
