KUCHING – The Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run 2025 is set to mark a major milestone as it celebrates its 10th edition on August 10, making it the largest ever since the event began in 2013, with over 5,800 runners expected from both local and international communities.

The highlight of this year’s run is the introduction of the 42KM Full Marathon, attracting more than 400 runners, alongside the existing 21KM Half Marathon, 10KM Competitive Run, and 5KM Fun Run.

Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, described the event as not just a celebration of Kuching City Day, but also a meaningful platform to promote healthy living, community unity, and environmental sustainability.

In a significant development, both the Full and Half Marathon routes have been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), placing the Kuching event on par with global marathons and opening the door to elite international participation.

Participants will get the chance to race past iconic city landmarks, including the Darul Hana Bridge, Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, Borneo Cultural Museum, Kuching Waterfront, and the famous cat statues.

A total of RM185,500 in cash prizes awaits winners, with RM10,000 each for the male and female Full Marathon open category champions. Additional excitement awaits with lucky draw prizes worth RM25,000, including flight tickets to Japan or South Korea, an iPhone 16 Pro, and a 75-inch smart TV.

All entry fee proceeds will be donated to charities, continuing the event’s tradition of corporate social responsibility—last year, RM180,000 was channelled to various organisations.

To ensure safety and smooth logistics, road closures will begin from the night of August 9, supported by enforcement officers and traffic marshals. Free shuttle buses, including electric buses, will be provided between Riverside Majestic Hotel and Menara Sarawak Energy, as part of a green mobility initiative.
