JAKARTA – The 13th Annual Malaysia-Indonesia Negotiations officially commenced at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, with Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim leading Malaysia’s delegation. The event marks a pivotal moment in bilateral relations between the two nations.
The welcoming ceremony began at approximately 10:10 am local time, featuring a full state welcome, including:
- Inspection of the Main Honour Guard
- Introductions of both national delegations
- Signing of the Guest Book
The main highlight of the opening day was a four-point discussion between PM Anwar Ibrahim and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.
Joining the Malaysian delegation was Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, who actively participated in discussions alongside key federal leaders. His presence underscores Sarawak’s growing influence in regional diplomacy and Borneo-based development initiatives.
