Kampung Tengah Fire Victims Receive Aid from Sri Aman District Disaster Committee

SRI AMAN – Victims of a devastating fire that broke out early Monday morning in Kampung Tengah, Sri Aman, received immediate assistance from the Sri Aman District Disaster Committee in a simple yet meaningful ceremony held at Dewan Seri Lemanak, Kampung Hulu on Tuesday.

The aid distribution was chaired by District Officer Sharif Bujang, who also serves as Chairman of the District Disaster Committee, with support from multiple agencies including the Welfare Department, Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (JBPM), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Sri Aman District Education Office, and the Lingga DUN Service Centre.

The fire, which occurred around 1:00 a.m., completely destroyed five houses and caused minor damage to three others due to heat and firefighting operations. A total of 18 victims from six families have been affected and are currently being housed at Dewan Seri Lemanak, which has been designated as a temporary relief centre.

Aid distributed to the victims includes mattresses, food supplies, clothing, and beverages to help alleviate their immediate needs.

“This swift action demonstrates our commitment to ensuring affected families receive the support they need during difficult times,” said Sharif Bujang.

Members of the public who wish to contribute further assistance may contact the Head of Kampung Tengah, Kiflie Morni, at 019-739 8780.
