UPPANS and Terengganu Forge Strategic Ties to Enhance State Protocols and Ceremonial Practices

TERENGGANU – The Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) has established a strategic partnership with the Terengganu State Secretary’s Office, focusing on improving the governance of official ceremonies and event management.

Led by UPPANS Director Datu Hamdan Sharbini, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Terengganu SUK Office’s Meetings and Protocol Management Division at Wisma Darul Iman on Tuesday. The visit was part of efforts to observe and learn from Terengganu’s structured implementation of government ceremonies and protocols.

The Sarawak delegation was received by Muhd Aimin Mohd Tahir, Terengganu’s Principal Assistant Secretary (Meetings and Protocol Management), along with senior officials including Kamarul Hisyam Abdullah (Senior Admin Officer), Mohd Zahari Janah (Ceremonies Coordinating Officer), and Nor Sophia Azura Mohd Husin (Principal Assistant Secretary, Corporate).

“This visit has been very meaningful. Terengganu’s structured approach provides valuable insights for us to refine our procedures and enhance professionalism in managing state-level events,” said Datu Hamdan.

The engagement also allowed both parties to exchange views and best practices on:

  • Enhancing the professionalism of protocol and ceremonies
  • Strengthening inter-state collaboration
  • Creating long-term networks for the exchange of expertise

Both Sarawak and Terengganu expressed mutual interest in maintaining continuous communication and knowledge sharing, particularly on the evolving demands of protocol and ceremonial governance in Malaysia’s public administration.
