SIMUNJAN — Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tanjung Pisang Selangking in Simunjan is set to receive a significant upgrade to its sports infrastructure with the construction of a new futsal court, under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for the Batang Sadong Parliamentary constituency.
The RM500,000 project, aimed at enhancing access to safe and comfortable sports facilities in rural areas, is expected to benefit not just the school’s students and staff, but also the wider local community.
A preliminary site visit for the project was conducted on Tuesday, led by Simunjan State Assemblyman (ADUN) Awla Dris, and joined by Idris Ibrahim, Special Officer to Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee.
According to Idris, the initiative reflects Rodiyah Sapiee’s ongoing commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure — particularly in education and sports.
“This new facility will provide a platform for students to adopt a healthy lifestyle and take part in active sports, encouraging physical development from a young age,” Idris said.
Construction is expected to commence once the procurement process is completed and contractors are appointed. The project will be closely monitored to ensure it aligns with the intended timeline and meets all required specifications.
The development of the futsal court adds to the broader vision of improving rural amenities and promoting holistic development in Sarawak’s underserved communities.
