KUCHING – Sarawak’s 11-year-old singing sensation, Taylor Louise, has once again proven that talent knows no age as she clinched the Winner Showcase Award at the 10th Anniversary Asia Student Arts Festival (ASAF) held at the prestigious Britten Theatre, Royal College of Music, London.

Representing Malaysia and her hometown of Kuching, Taylor mesmerised the international audience with two stunning performances — “Easy On Me” by Adele and “Quiet” from the musical Matilda. Her emotional delivery and strong stage presence earned roaring applause and praise from both judges and guests, including renowned British baritone Jerome Knox, who presented the award on stage.
Taylor was the only Malaysian from Sarawak to receive the award during this year’s milestone celebration of ASAF, which brings together Asia’s most talented young performers.
In a heartfelt moment backstage, Taylor explained the meaning behind her song choices. “Quiet” resonated deeply with her, as it spoke about inner strength in the face of criticism.
“This song is personal to me,” she said. “It’s about staying true to yourself, no matter what others say. I think it’s a message every young person needs to hear.”
Her journey to London began earlier this year after she was named Champion in the Malaysian ASAF preliminary round. She is no stranger to the global stage, having earned a Gold Medal at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles and a Top 5 global finish at the Sanremo Junior World Finals in Italy — where she also received a Special Mention.
Taylor’s next chapter will see her stepping into the spotlight once again as Rayna in Dreamweaver: The Musical, to be staged at Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC) on 29 and 30 August 2025. At just 11 years old, she will be the youngest cast member in the production and will perform across three shows.
Her latest win in London is not just a personal victory, but a proud moment for Sarawak and Malaysia, highlighting the artistic potential and global promise of young Malaysians.
