The event, officiated by Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, also the Saribas assemblyman, highlighted the growing popularity and potential of community-based food festivals in rural Sarawak.

Organised by the Saribas Service Centre, the fiesta featured local product showcases, entertainment performances, and vibrant food stalls, drawing visitors from nearby towns and villages.

“The fiesta has proven to be a crowd-puller and has had a positive impact on the local economy,” said Datuk Razi.

Inspired by the Marvellous Food programme from the previous year, this improved edition brought stronger community involvement and more diverse offerings.

“Our main goal is to promote local products and stimulate economic activity within the community. The response from local traders has been very encouraging,” he added.

Looking ahead, Datuk Razi proposed expanding participation to include more farmers and small entrepreneurs, especially to market agricultural produce to a wider audience.

With its strong turnout and local economic impact, Saribas Food Fiesta is now being considered for annual status, potentially placing Debak on the map as a food tourism hotspot in western Sarawak.
