Three Houses Destroyed in Kota Sentosa Fire, No Injuries Reported

Swift Action by Firefighters Prevents Wider Destruction

KUCHING, 4 Ogos 2025 – A devastating fire broke out this evening at Batu 7, Kota Sentosa along Jalan Penrissen, completely destroying three single-storey permanent houses.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, they received a distress call regarding the incident at 3.44 petang. Firefighters from the Kota Sentosa Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were swiftly dispatched and arrived at the location within 10 minutes.

“Upon arrival at 3.53 petang, the operations team found that the fire had engulfed three single-storey houses. Immediate efforts were made to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby properties,” JBPM said in a press release.

A total of 24 personnel were involved in the operation, with additional assistance from Tabuan Jaya BBP and Batu Lintang BBP. The entire firefighting mission was led by Senior Fire Officer (PBK I) Tiwi Ni’os, involving three Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicles and an Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) unit.

The fire was fully brought under control by 4.10 petang — less than 30 minutes after arrival.

Post-extinguishing efforts continued into the late afternoon as firefighters combed through debris to eliminate any remaining heat pockets that could trigger a secondary fire.

As of now, the cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation. No casualties have been reported.

JBPM reminded the public to ensure electrical systems are properly maintained and to avoid overloading sockets, especially during the dry season when fire risks are heightened.

This incident once again highlights the critical importance of quick response and inter-agency coordination in managing urban fire emergencies.
