Mayor Walk 2025 Set to Unite Kuching in Health and Friendship

Mayor Walk 2025 Set to Unite Kuching in Health and Friendship

KUCHING – The Mayor Walk 2025 will return for its seventh edition on 17 August 2025, starting at 6:00 a.m. at MBKS Boulevard, announced Kuching South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng during a press conference today.

First introduced in 2017, the Mayor Walk has grown from a modest community gathering into a flagship Kuching Festival event, attracting participants from all walks of life. The annual walk promotes healthy living, social unity, and a deeper appreciation for Kuching’s outdoor spaces.

This year’s edition will also highlight the city’s commitment to global causes by supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Dato Wee highlighted the walk’s intergenerational appeal, noting that it often sees participation from three generations of the same family. “It’s not just about walking; it’s about creating lasting memories while embracing our city’s natural beauty,” he said.

The Mayor Walk 2025 is made possible with the support of key sponsors, including Ibraco Berhad, 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta, Chagee, Lalamove, Premier Echo Sound and Light System Sdn Bhd, Revive, Sarawak Energy Berhad, Go Beyond, WG Cycle, Kok Siong, and the City Joggers Club (CJC).

Participants can collect their event T-shirts at the MBKS Lobby on 15 August (9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) and 16 August (9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.). Those collecting are required to bring their Ipeope registration QR code for verification.

Dato Wee encouraged Kuching residents to join the walk in the spirit of togetherness. “Let us walk forward together for a healthier, greener, and more connected Kuching,” he said.

With its blend of fitness, family bonding, and civic pride, the Mayor Walk 2025 promises to be one of the most memorable highlights of this year’s Kuching Festival. – MBKS
