KUALA LUMPUR — The ASEAN Law Forum 2025 commenced today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), bringing together over 300 legal professionals, policymakers, and scholars from across Southeast Asia.
Themed “Enhancing Access to Justice in the ASEAN Economic Community: Bridging Legal Cooperation for Inclusive Growth,” the forum aims to address contemporary legal challenges and promote regional collaboration in the digital age.
Among the distinguished attendees were Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Governor of Sarawak, and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, who participated in the Ministerial Dinner held at 6:30 PM.
Their arrival was welcomed by YB Dato’ Seri Azalina Othman Said, Malaysia’s Minister of Law and Institutional Reform, along with other dignitaries, including YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and his wife, Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini binti Abdul Jaabar.
The evening’s proceedings commenced with a traditional gong strike by Tun Pehin Sri, symbolizing the official opening of the dinner.
Subsequently, the attendees engaged in a batik-dyeing session, creatively incorporating the word “ASEAN” into their designs.
The event concluded with a durian-tasting session at the Sky Garden, Level 6, KLCC, providing a relaxed environment for networking and cultural exchange.
The forum continues through 21 August, featuring discussions on various topics, including alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, human rights, and environmental law.
Organised under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, the event underscores the nation’s commitment to strengthening legal frameworks and fostering inclusive growth within the region.
